Staying In Is The New Going Out

It used to be the case that in order to have fun with your friends or with your partner, you needed to head out. This could be out for a meal, out to the cinema or perhaps out out, you know, for the night. The thing is, times have changed and now more and more people are realising that staying in at home is the new going out.

But there are still people who don’t know just how great it can be to have some fun at home, rather than having to spend lots of money going out.

So, to inspire those who think out is the only place to be, we have put together some of the great things that you can do all in the comfort of your own home.

Create your own spa at home

There really is nothing more luxurious then having a treatment or two at a spa. However, spas can be incredibly expensive. The good news is that you can create your very own spa at home. This is ideal for a night in with the girls or perhaps a romantic date night. It is relatively easy to re-create that spa feeling at home, light some candles, play some soft music and set up the room for maximum relaxation. Soak your feet, soak your hands, maybe if you are a couple you could give each other a massage. Another great idea is to make your own face masks, which you can then apply. There are a wealth of awesome face mask recipes that you can make yourself, not only are they entirely natural, but they make your skin feel amazing too.

Have a cook off with your friends

Hanging out at home with friends can be a whole lot of fun. Especially if you combine this with food. One great way to keep everyone entertained, spend some time together and also enjoy some delicious food, is to have a cook off. There are a number of ways that you can do this; you can set a theme, such as a particular cuisine, or you could perhaps choose some set ingredients which everyone has to cook a dish with. It is important to remember that if you are going to have a cook off with your friends, then you are going to need the kitchen space to spare. Else things might get a little cramped for you.

Make a romantic at home picnic

Picnics are incredibly romantic, when done right, however, the weather isn’t always kind to us, and a lot of the time we only managed to have the spare time to head out when the sun has set after work and other commitments. Does this mean that you have to give up on your idea of a romantic picnic with you and your someone special? Absolutely not. In fact, the great thing about picnic is that you can have them wherever you want. Bring the blanket and the basket inside and have your picnic food indoors, we promise you that it will be just as romantic, but all without the ants and threat of rain. If you want some inspiration for picnic treats, then why not have a look at BBC Good Food ? Where you will find a whole host of different recipe ideas.

Hold a book club

Book clubs are great fun, not only do they encourage people to read more, but they are also a social activity too. So, if you are looking for ways to have some fun at home, without it costing the Earth, then why not hold a book club? Book clubs are great to bring your friends together, especially if they love to read. Set one book a month and get together as often as you can to talk about how you are getting on with it, not only will this bring you all together, but it will also encourage you to enjoy different types of books too. If you need inspiration then you can also check out Good Reads, where you will find plenty of inspiration for new books to try.

Host a board games night

Board games are great fun, so, why not bring your friends together by hosting a board games night. Get everyone to bring their favourite board game and some snacks and get playing. Just keep your eye out for any cheaters and try to diffuse any Monopoly based arguments, else things could soon get out of hand.

There are lots of great things about deciding to stay in rather than going out. Not only does it mean that you save money (which is a huge bonus in itself) but also that you don’t have to worry about dressing up or queuing to get into places. Instead, everything happens from home, or from another home that you feel comfortable in and best of all, you can rock up in your PJ’s if you really wanted to!
